UPDATE 2: Latest update was released on Jul 15 (2021) with performance improvements

Fluxonaut allows you to export historical financial and economic data from selected open statistics databases (we currently aggregate BEA, BCB, FRED, EuroStat, OECD, IMF, and ECB). To pair up with that functionality, we've developed an experimental Excel add-in that allows you to refresh exported data. Every time you export data from Fluxonaut to Excel, you are also linking that data, which enables you to simply click a button to refresh it. Analysts and researchers can now hunt for data only once, and the add-in will keep it updated effortlessly.

How to use

Excel Add-in Screenshot

First, Fluxonaut must be open/running; then, you have three simple buttons:

  • Refresh Worksheet - Looks for data links in the current open Worksheet and refreshes the data
  • Refresh Workbook - Looks for data links in the entire Workbook and refreshes the data
  • Open DataBrowser - Launches Fluxonaut's DataBrowser so you can browse for more data

Let us know

Despite being experimental, the add-in only connects to an open Fluxonaut and requests data from it. It's quite stable for the amount of development and testing we were able to put into it, making us comfortable to release it. Having said that, we do want to ask you to send us your feedback and bug reports to help us improve it faster!
